Carolina Panthers select Michael Woods II

The Carolina Panthers don’t have a need at wide receiver thanks in part to D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Rashard Higgins being on the roster. However, competition is needed on the backend of the group.

Wide receiver isn’t high on the priority list for Scott Fitterer and the front office. Though, adding more talent to the group would not be the worse thing in the world.

Oklahoma has gone through a lot of changes throughout the last five months, having lost a lot of talent due to the domino effect Lincoln Riley caused with his departure from Norman to Los Angeles. The Sooners did however have a talented group of wide receivers that has remained mostly intact.

Despite being stuck behind the likes of Jaden Haselwood, Marvin Mims, and Theo Wease, Michael Woods II showed out when asked upon.

The former SEC transfer out of Arkansas offers great route running ability and ball skills that could find a place on a roster at the next level. Woods shouldn’t be mistaken for a burner, but he has enough explosiveness to burn defense vertically.

Finding gems in the late rounds is something Fitterer has a solid reputation for doing. Any further contributors at this stage of the draft can only help the Panthers.
