Who were the big winners from the Carolina Panthers taking their chances with former Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral at No. 94 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft?

The speculation surrounding what the Carolina Panthers were going to do at the quarterback position has been rife ever since the 2021 campaign came to a conclusion. Multiple veteran trade offers were made and almost got over the line, but those in power eventually decide to roll the dice with Matt Corral late in the third round.

Corral comes from the SEC and has a lot of likable traits. There is some work to do in terms of processing and decision-making, but this is a low-risk pickup that might end up with the Panthers getting a starter out of it providing everything goes well with the signal-caller’s progress.

Expecting Corral to come in and start right away is unrealistic. But that’s not to say he isn’t capable if the player picks things up quickly throughout training camp.

On the subject of Corral, we picked out four big winners from the Ole Miss product coming to Carolina.

Matt Corral – Carolina Panthers QB

Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way.

Matt Corral was obviously disappointed with an alarming slide that was a damning indictment of what the league thought of the incoming college recruits under center. But in all honesty, this is arguably one of the better fits for the player.

The Carolina Panthers present Corral with a chance to start much sooner than expected. Everything has to go right and there is a lot of hard work ahead, but the rewards are obvious and, more importantly, attainable.

The ball is now in Corral’s court, so to speak. But there is a lot to be encouraged about based on his skillset.
