Carolina Panthers linked with Jaxon Smith-Njigba

  • Wide Receiver | Ohio State
  • No. 4 overall (Bleacher Report)

Things look quite promising for the Carolina Panthers on offense with the additions of Matt Corral and Ikem Ekwonu. Couple this with some exciting free-agent signings and there is plenty to suggest improved fortunes for many might not be too far away.

The Panthers are once again strong at the wide receiver position. But the likes of Robby Anderson, Terrace Marshall Jr., Shi Smith, and Rashard Higgins need to make improvements to complement the outstanding consistency D.J. Moore brings to the table.

If the aforementioned trio cannot step up effectively, then it might see the Panthers address the wideout position early in the 2023 NFL Draft. Something that was recently highlighted by The Bleacher Report, who had Carolina taking Jaxon Smith-Njigba at No. 4 overall.

Smith-Njigba is the latest in a long line of exceptional receivers to emerge from Ohio State. With Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave now in the NFL, the player will look to build on some outstanding 2021 numbers and cement his status as the best prospect at the position.

Smooth route-running, exceptional ball skills, and elite explosiveness saw Smith-Njigba attain 95 receptions for 1,606 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2021. Catching balls next season from potential No.1  overall selection C.J. Stroud won’t hurt, either.
