3 reasons the Carolina Panthers must sign Jadeveon Clowney

Defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney is a free agent that the Carolina Panthers must consider signing if there is a mutual interest between both parties.
Now that the 2022 NFL Draft has come to a conclusion, the Carolina Panthers can now begin exploring possible options to further strengthen positional groups that could use reinforcements. Those in power wasted little time in doing this after signing All-Pro kick returner Andre Roberts, and there is plenty more cap space to utilize in free agency should they wish.
One player was touted as a possible option for the Panthers is Jadeveon Clowney. The former No. 1 overall selection is still looking for a new home despite an outstanding campaign for the Cleveland Browns in 2021, which is something that could be “in play” for Carolina according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
The respected writer noted that the Browns are also reportedly keen on bringing Clowney back. But the prospect of playing closer to home is an enticing option that could be mutually beneficial in this particular scenario.
"“The Browns have been pretty confident that they’d get Jadeveon Clowney back, with the one caveat being that if a team in the South near where the South Carolina native grew up came calling, that could blow things up. So yeah, the Browns are in play and the Panthers probably would be too if they show real interest.”"
Clowney is a Rock Hill native and starred for the South Carolina Gamecocks en route to becoming one of the most anticipated draft selections in recent memory. He may not have hit the lofty heights expected, but nine sacks for the Browns last season indicate the veteran still has plenty left in the tank.
With this in mind, here are three reasons why the Panthers should strongly consider signing Clowney providing there is a willingness from both sides to get a deal done.
