Which quarterbacks could the Carolina Panthers trade for in 2023 if things don’t go according to plan with the team’s current options next season?

There does appear to be a great deal of optimism surrounding Matt Corral as a potential long-term quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. But that might not happen right away and much will also depend on how much the Ole Miss product progresses during his first season in a professional environment.

Things might get worse before they get better for the Panthers under center. Especially if the team does not bring in another veteran presence and moves forward with Sam Darnold as the starter once again.

Darnold just isn’t cut out for the job and demonstrated as much last season. Had the Panthers not triggered his fifth-year option with a fully guaranteed $18.85 million, the former USC standout would already be out of the door.

If the Panthers are not convinced by Corral’s development in the coming months, which quarterbacks could they potentially look to acquire via trade in 2023?

Carolina Panthers could trade for Jordan Love

Aaron Rodgers committing his short-term future to the Green Bay Packers was a monumental blow to Jordan Love’s hopes of stepping into the NFL MVP’s shoes. But if those in power within the organization were convinced he could perform at a high standard, then making such a fuss about keeping the future Pro Football Hall of Famer around wouldn’t have been considered based on the franchise’s history.

There was some trade speculation surrounding Love this offseason. Although it didn’t amount to anything more than rumors, that might change this time next year depending on how Rodgers performs without his star wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Carolina Panthers and others across the league will be watching with interest, one suspects. But we simply don’t know how good Love is or could become with so little to go off.
