Carolina Panthers QBs

Having so much uncertainty at the most important position on the field is a microcosm of how things have gone for the Carolina Panthers since Matt Rhule took charge. A series of strange personnel moves put them in a bad spot this offseason, which has forced the team to keep faith with Sam Darnold, at least for the time being.

Darnold was a real disappointment after a positive start following his trade from the New York Jets. Picking up his fifth-year option with a  guaranteed $18.85 million has made things complicated for the Panthers this offseason, but they did manage to get their hands on a potential long-term solution after trading up for Matt Corral at No. 94 overall.

The former Ole Miss star was the top signal-caller on Carolina’s board and represented high value after a concerning slide. However, expecting Corral to instantly start and become a major contributor is probably pushing things a little too far.

Of course, the Panthers are still exploring options. Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo are being linked heavily to the organization via trade and the team does have enough cap space to make this happen should they wish.
