  • Carolina Panthers decide more is needed.

The Carolina Panthers have a solid-looking roster overall. But there is one glaring cloud hanging over the organization that could derial any hopes they have of becoming competitive in 2022.

This, of course, is the quarterback spot.

Sam Darnold’s struggles last season have been well documented. A strong start to OTAs was taken skeptically by the team’s fanbase, who saw enough of the signal-caller in 2021 to be convinced that he is not the guy to take the Panthers where they want to go.

The arrival of third-round selection Matt Corral comes with some intrigue. But everything has to go right for the Ole Miss product throughout the offseason to get a realistic shot at starting in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns.

Matt Rhule stated that he will sit down with general manager Scott Fitterer after the team’s mandatory minicamp to reevaluate every position. Depending on what they see from their quarterbacks, the duo could decide more is needed.

This would come via another veteran trade. A move that the Panthers would like to accomplish before training camp rolls around in this scenario.

Whether it’s Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo, this represents another feast or famine move under center that Rhule would be gambling his job on.
