The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are once again primed for a deep postseason run after Tom Brady went back on his initial retirement decision. Something that propelled the team from playoff hopefuls to among the Super Bowl favorites along the way.

Brady completely shifted the landscape in Tampa Bay. But their defense is another key component behind their success and something new head coach Todd Bowles knows exactly how to utilize effectively.

One player that could once again see substantial time on the field this season is William Gholston. The defensive lineman has a fierce reputation in league circles, but the production has never quite matched his supreme physical attributes.

Gholston looks set to occupy a 3-4 defensive end role in 2022 and there will be plenty of space to work considering how impactful nose tackle Vita Vea can be. Although this is a tremendous opportunity for the Michigan State product, it’s also worth remembering that his 4.5 sacks last season were career-high numbers.

Obviously, Gholston’s stock has risen after shining last season. But the Carolina Panthers have enough quality along their offensive line after a strong period of recruitment this spring to keep him firmly in check.
