Which Carolina Panthers players need to generate early buzz during the team’s upcoming training camp ahead of the 2022 season?
The long break between mandatory minicamp and training camp is almost at an end. Things will crank up a notch for the Carolina Panthers next week when they check in at Wofford College for an intense few weeks of preparation before their clash against the Cleveland Browns to officially begin their 2022 season.
Camp is always a fascinating time with plenty at stake for many. Players are fighting for depth chart positions and in some cases, their future in the NFL, which raises the stakes considerably following a more relaxed atmosphere during early workouts.
Carolina is embarking on a crossroads campaign in Year 3 of Matt Rhule’s tenure. With plenty of new coaches also on board, a lot of information must be absorbed by playing personnel in pursuit of making a splash when competitive games commence.
With this in mind, here are four Panthers players who must generate early buzz when the team takes to the practice field in Spartanburg.
Player No. 1
Marquan McCall – Carolina Panthers DT
Being an undrafted free agent is difficult. You are starting from the bottom and in many cases, the best they can hope for is a spot on the practice squad or doing enough for an opportunity elsewhere when their inevitable fate is sealed.
The Carolina Panthers are a little short of defensive line depth. Something that could lead to a role for Marquan McCall providing he can build some early momentum in training camp.
McCall is a formidable presence against the run that was unfortunate to not hear his name called during the draft. The imposing figure will need to hold his own and cope with the heat, but don’t be surprised if the Kentucky product makes a name for himself.
