What areas must Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield improve after one week of the team’s training camp at Wofford College?

After all the speculation and rumors, Baker Mayfield finally took to the practice field for the Carolina Panthers. His trade from the Cleveland Browns was a long time coming, but the quarterback’s arrival now provides the organization with an enormous sense of anticipation ahead of a crucial 2022 campaign for head coach Matt Rhule.

Mayfield has made a good impression overall since joining the team. It was always going to be a work in progress considering how late in the offseason he came on board, but the signal-caller seems to be embracing an instant chance to start again after being cast aside by the Browns.

Things will get a little more intense with the pads coming on in practice this week. The Panthers are looking for one of their quarterbacks to separate themselves from the pack before Week 1 and it would be a major disappointment if Mayfield wasn’t the guy.

With this in mind, here are three areas that Mayfield must improve after Week 1 of the team’s training camp in Spartanburg.

Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield must improve chemistry

Baker Mayfield participated in a pre-camp throwing session with his primary pass-catchers to ready himself for his upcoming challenges. But this was just a drop in the ocean when it comes to enhancing chemistry to an NFL standard on game day.

The quarterback has a blossoming relationship with D.J. Moore that came across on Day 2. However, timing has been an issue on occasions and this is something that has to improve in double-quick time.

There are only a few short weeks until Mayfield is set to take the field in Week 1 against his former employers. So time is of the essence and the more reps Carolina gives the signal-caller with the first-team, the better moving forward.
