Which EDGE rushers should Carolina Panthers fans monitor for this upcoming college football season ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft?

The Carolina Panthers enter the 2022 regular season with a sense of both optimism and skepticism at one of football’s premier positions.

Brian Burns enters his fourth season with plenty of hype after coming short of hitting 10 sacks last season. He enters this year looking to take the next step as one of the top pass-rushers in the league.

Opposite of Burns, however, there is a bit of skepticism as to who will emerge as the starting pass rusher opposite of the former No. 16 overall selection. 2020 second-round pick Yetur Gross-Matos is expected to have a bigger role this season as he enters his third year in the NFL. Veterans Marquis Haynes and Frankie Luvu are expected to be a part of the Panthers‘ rotation.

There is no guarantee that Gross-Matos finally puts it all together this year, nor is it certain that Luvu and Haynes step up in a big way this season. This means that heading into the 2023 offseason, the spot opposite of Burns could be a big position of need.

Heading into the 2022 college football season, the EDGE position is expected to be very deep for the 2023 NFL Draft next April. There are some analysts that believe this year’s group could be better than the one that produced three top-five selections four months ago.

If there is a year to go after an EDGE rusher, next year’s draft could be one to watch out for again. Here are four pass rushers that Panthers fans should keep an eye on this season.
