High stakes await the Carolina Panthers in 2022, but there are reasons to suggest that can kick things off by beating the Cleveland Browns.

A monumental occasion awaits the Carolina Panthers when they take the field in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. There is obvious attention on Baker Mayfield’s first competitive start in different colors versus the team that drafted him No. 1 overall, but this also represents a good chance for Matt Rhule to get a pivotal third season off on the right foot.

Rhule is a man under pressure and Mayfield is probably his final throw of the dice in pursuit of progression. Cleveland won’t be a rollover by any stretch of the imagination despite the absence of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who is suspended for the first 11 games due to sexual misconduct.

The Panthers must build early momentum with so many home games early on. If they can do this, then there is more than enough talent to keep this going throughout their crossroads campaign.

With that being said, here are some reasons why the Panthers will beat the Browns to get their 2022 season underway.

Carolina Panthers have increased urgency

The stakes are incredibly high for the Carolina Panthers this season. This brings an added sense of urgency to finally get this proud organization on the right path at long last.

Carolina’s front office put everything in place this offseason. Very few holes remain if everyone meets expectations, with improved coaches around Matt Rhule something else the former Baylor man can use to his advantage.

This urgency must transition onto the field against a team looking to keep their heads above water until Deshaun Watson returns. It won’t be easy, but the Panthers look refreshed and ready to stake a far bigger claim this time around.
