Matt Rhule’s potential replacements

Who are your top three head coach candidates to replace Matt Rhule? – The Sports Nut

Thank you for your question, Sports Nut.

There are deserving candidates around the league to become Carolina Panthers’ head coach. Matt Rhule‘s replacement needs to be someone with experience and proven to be an effective coach at this level.

This list isn’t in any order. Though, I’ll begin with a very popular name and one that had an opportunity to become the Panthers’ head coach in 2020.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy should be one of the top candidates for the open headman position. What he has done with Patrick Mahomes has been nothing short of spectacular and is overdue to become the leader of an NFL franchise.

Former Miami Dolphins head coach and current Pittsburgh Steelers assistant Brian Flores is another name I would consider. He was fired due to a difference of opinion with team owner Stephen Ross but led the AFC East team to a winning record in two of his three seasons, just missing the playoffs despite some major roster holes.

There is a coach that the Panthers played against on Sunday that will be getting a lot of attraction for head coaching jobs this season. That man goes by the name of DeMeco Ryans.

The San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator currently has his unit as the top-ranked group in the league. Ryans would be on the younger side at 38 years old, but his rise as a coach has been eye-catching.

Other names in consideration as honorable mentions include Sean Payton, Dan Quinn, and Detroit Lions running backs coach Duce Staley. There is also the faint possibility that Steve Wilks could impress to the point where he’s made permanent head coach.

It will be an interesting three months going forward.
