Carolina Panthers’ breaking point with Robbie Anderson

Robbie Anderson has been a non-factor for the past two seasons. Which is a far cry from his opening campaign with the Carolina Panthers that brought the first and only 1,000 receiving yard contribution of his career.

Under the guidance of Joe Brady and distribution from Teddy Bridgewater, Anderson gained 1,096 receiving yards and three touchdowns from 95 receptions. This came with a lucrative contract extension but just 519 yards in 2021 and 206 throughout the first six games of the current campaign.

His altercation with wide receivers coach Joe Dailey on the sideline led to interim head coach Steve Wilks kicking Anderson out of the game and into the locker room. The wideout was known to be extremely loyal to his former college coach Matt Rhule and looked like his frustration hit a boiling point on Sunday.

Anderson’s frustrations are justified given the state of Carolina’s offense under Ben McAdoo. But it was clear something had to be done.

Fans didn’t have to wait long as Anderson was traded to the Arizona Cardinals for a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-round pick. It was easy to tell the Panthers would’ve moved on regardless of this outburst to get some draft picks they’ve lost, but it was a disappointing way for the charismatic figure to go out.
