Carolina Panthers should target Tank Bigsby

  • Running Back | Auburn

Trading running back Christian McCaffrey was a big call to make. But considering where the Carolina Panthers currently are compared to some leading contenders around the league, it was the correct decision and allows the incoming regime more assets to spend during the 2023 NFL Draft.

Whether they identify running back as a need remains to be seen. D’Onta Foreman has been doing damage with more responsibility on his shoulders and Chuba Hubbard is also flashing on a rotational basis in the wake of McCaffrey’s departure.

With that being said, it could be worth the Panthers picking up a dynamic individual from the college ranks even if Foreman gets an extension. Tank Bigsby has enough qualities to potentially be considered on Day 2 at some stage, with his dual-threat ability and vision just two traits that could easily lead to a role in the NFL.

The Auburn prospect sees the field extremely well. Bigsby has enough burst to make things happen at the second level and possesses the sort of patience behind blockers normally associated with prolific backs in the pros.

If Bigsby can improve his route tree and become a lower runner to become more elusive, someone is going to have a real player on their hands. This is one for the Carolina shortlist given his high upside.
