Jaycee Horn is among the league’s top CBs

The debate has raged on throughout the realms of Carolina Panthers Twitter whether or not Jaycee Horn was the right draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

In a matchup that featured talented wide receivers such as D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, Horn came up big and was the lockdown presence many expected to see on a national stage.

Horn started his day with an interception of Geno Smith on the first play of the Seattle Seahawks’ opening possession and later almost came up with his second pick of the day later in the contest, though it was ruled incomplete.

Either way, Horn displayed everything you are looking for in a potentially elite cornerback. He has high-level ball skills that allow him to be a takeaway machine whenever a quarterback throws his way while having the tracking skills to steal receptions from opposing receivers and knock passes away.

The patient and smooth backpedal, hip fluidity, man and zone coverage discipline, press-man skills and football IQ are all quality traits that make Horn the player he is. The former South Carolina Gamecock has played so well this season to the point of being a potential All-Pro in just his second campaign.

Let’s not forget that Horn missed all but three games last season due to a foot injury and multiple games this season for a rib injury.

Horn has proved to be a franchise cornerstone and someone that should be considered untradeable no matter what the offer might be. His performance today was another factor in the Panthers’ big win over the Seahawks, with similar performances needed in the coming weeks as Carlina goes in search of a shock divisional title.
