3 best prop bets for the Carolina Panthers vs. Lions in Week 16
By Dean Jones
What are some solid prop bets available when the Carolina Panthers take on the Detroit Lions in Week 16?
Morale took a big hit where the Carolina Panthers are concerned after such a disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15. Had they emerged victorious, Steve Wilks’ men would be sitting atop the NFC South right now after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew a 17-point lead en route to their loss versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Panthers are down, but not out just yet. Their home finale against the in-form Detroit Lions is another chance to generate momentum at the best possible time, which would also give Wilks’ chances of winning the head coaching job long-term a huge shot in the arm.
That will be easier said than done in the face of Dan Campbell’s ever-improving squad. After a poor start to the campaign, the Lions are coming to life and can now look encouragingly at the prospect of securing a wildcard berth within a largely underwhelming NFC conference.
All these components make for a game that should be full of urgency in freezing temperatures. Looking ahead to the encounter, here are three tempting prop bets to consider for a nice Christmas bonus.

Prop Bet No. 1
Sam Darnold prop bets
- Over 195.5 passing yards at -114 (FanDuel Sportsbook)
While the Carolina Panthers will rely heavily on establishing the run once again, the Detroit Lions can make things happen quickly on offense. This is something Ben McAdoo must adjust to as the contest goes on and might lead to more opportunities for Sam Darnold in the face of a suspect pass defense.
Darnold performed well against the Pittsburgh Steelers and is now three straight games without a turnover. If this becomes a mini-shootout despite the conditions, backing the former USC star to throw for more than 195.5 passing yards at -114 with FanDuel Sportsbook (bet $114 to win $100) could bring rewards.
