Is Brian Burns worth a massive contract extension?

Is Brian Burns worth a huge contract? – Jimmy

Let me go ahead and answer this for you, Jimmy. Brian Burns is absolutely worth a huge contract.

I get why this question is being asked right now. Burns was quiet against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and there are some people saying that he was gassed at one point. I have a counter-argument to this.

Burns, in his own right, is a high-level pass rusher. Sometimes even the NFL’s best have quiet games and look tired.

It’s a long season on top of having to face some very good offensive tackles such as Donovan Smith and Tristan Wirfs, one of the better tackle duos in the league.

The former Florida State standout has 12.5 sacks this season along with an astounding 17 tackles for loss. He’s shown great improvement as a run defender and looks a lot stronger than he did in his previous three seasons.

It is likely that Nick Bosa will get a massive contract this offseason as one of the best players in his position. It’s up to the Carolina Panthers to take advantage as they did with D.J. Moore when many other talented receivers were getting their own big deals.

Looking at Burns, I think at the very least you will see him get somewhere in the neighborhood of $20-25 million per year. He’s offered the type of production to warrant such a contract.

Bosa will likely make $30 million per year, which means it’s up to Scott Fitterer and Burns’ agent Todd France of CAA Sports to set the market before someone else does.
