Carolina Panthers legend heads into the podcast world
By Dean Jones
Legendary former Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Ryan Kalil is dipping his toe into the podcast world with an exciting new venture.
Fans are always keen to hear about what the former Carolina Panthers players are getting up to after leaving the organization. This bares special significance for the golden generation from the 2010s, who produced some of the greatest moments in franchise history and almost secured an elusive first Super Bowl in 2015.
Most of these players remain deeply connected to the team. They are carving out their own successful paths away from Bank of America Stadium, but the love for Panthers football remains long after retirement.
Carolina Panthers legend Ryan Kalil launches new podcast
One such individual is Ryan Kalil, the prolific center who attained two All-Pro honors and no fewer than five Pro Bowl selections during a glittering spell in Carolina. Now happily retired, the respected figure is barely unrecognizable after dropping a significant amount of weight and is currently embarking on a media venture that’s been hugely successful since its inception.
Kalil founded Audiorama, a premium creation platform powered by passionate storytellers alongside award-winning actor Vince Vaughn, Fresh Produce Media, Powerhouse Capital, and ex-Panthers teammate Greg Olsen. As part of this venture, the USC product released a new podcast entitled Block Forever, which aims to give listeners a deeper knowledge of all things NFL.
Throughout the 16 -episode series, which is now available in its entirety, Kalil talks about the biggest game of the week with top players, coaches, and former pros from across the league.
Kalil and a number of special guests get to grips with topics such as psyches, sports betting, playing through pain, being a leader, and how to deal with combative teammates while sharing stories of what happens behind the scenes with an NFL team.
Recent guests of the show include current and former NFL greats such as Christian McCaffrey, Andrew Whitworth, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Sean Peyton, and many more.
Kalil’s thoughts via press release outline his pride for the project, which is thoughtful, insightful and goes behind the curtain to a degree that cannot be found on most podcasts available.
"“We’re excited to have Audiorama work with Audible and Fresh Produce to bring our listeners a podcast that takes a holistic look at America’s most popular sport both on and off the field. I engaged in some truly thoughtful conversations with people associated with the game to give fans a sense of what really goes into competing each week.”"
Carolina has a lot to thank Kalil for. He provided an exceptional anchor for more than a decade and his leadership within the locker room is something else that benefitted the franchise considerably.
It’s great to see Kalil thriving away from the gridiron. NFL players can find it difficult in terms of adjustment post-retirement, but it’s refreshing to see Carolina’s recent retirees taking early steps to become successful in their careers beyond football.
Having listened to Kalil’s podcasts, they are not to be missed. And no Panthers fan will wish anything but the best of luck with his new venture.
