Which NFL Draft prospects could become lively outsiders for the Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick in 2023?

Speculation is rampant about what the Carolina Panthers are going to do with their 2023 NFL Draft selections. General manager Scott Fitterer has discussed at length the need to draft and develop a college quarterback, but whether he’ll get the chance to land his prospect of choice from No. 9 overall is highly unlikely.

Of course, rumors are swirling about potentially trading up. Relying on veteran trades didn’t work out too well for Matt Rhule, so Fitterer might go completely against Carolina’s recent trend and sacrifice capital on a long-term option rather than a quick fix.

There is a long way to go before the time for a decision arrives. Many chess pieces will move before then in free agency, which could paint a clearer picture of draft needs and what the Panthers are planning.

Anything can happen where the draft is concerned. With this in mind, here are four lively outsiders to be Carolina’s first-round pick in 2023.

Carolina Panthers could draft Tyree Wilson

  • Defensive End | Texas Tech Red Raiders

If the Carolina Panthers decided to stand pat or try their luck with another veteran, then their first-round selection could be allocated to improving the pass rush. Brian Burns was the only standout in this crucial area last season, although Frankie Luvu’s ability to generate pressure from the second level was another bright spot.

Should this scenario comes to fruition, then Tyree Wilson comes into the spotlight. The Texas Tech product has outstanding physical attributes and although he’s a little raw, the ceiling could not be higher.
