3 best moves from the Carolina Panthers 2023 offseason so far
By Dean Jones
What are the best moves made by the Carolina Panthers during an encouraging offseason so far in 2023?
After Matt Rhule left a torrid mess behind following his disastrous three-year stint as head coach, it’s clear something drastic had to change. Thankfully, this was also recognized by Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper in pursuit of finally making a successful go of things in 2023.
We are only a few short weeks into Carolina’s offseason, but there is now optimism aplenty after some fantastic acquisitions. Especially to the coaching staff, which is night and day from the one Rhule left behind.
This is just a start. Tepper has a long road ahead to win back the good graces of fans, but the billionaire is off to a good start and seems to have learned some harsh lessons along the way.
With this in mind, we picked out the three best moves made by the Panthers during the 2023 offseason so far.
Move No. 1
Carolina Panthers hired Frank Reich
The first big domino to fall was arguably the best. David Tepper obviously considered Steve Wilks heavily for the head coaching job after his sterling work as interim in 2022, but the allure of an offensive-minded figurehead for the first time in franchise history was too tempting to ignore.
Tepper and the Carolina Panthers brought back former quarterback Frank Reich to become his next head coach. Based on what’s happened since it’s not hard to see why he separated himself from the pack during a thorough interview process.
