Carolina Panthers could target Gerald Everett

This one is a little more complex. However, it’s a situation that Thomas Brown and the Carolina Panthers might want to monitor closely this offseason.

Gerald Everett is a proven performer that has a previous working relationship with Brown. The former second-round pick put up decent numbers for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, but a recent report from The Athletic indicated that the tight end could be a potential cap casualty with a saving of $4 million involved heading into the final year of his deal.

If this scenario comes to fruition, it would be a shock if the Panthers didn’t put in a call. They are in desperate need of a prominent pass-catching tight end, although the prospect of further improvements from Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble cannot be dismissed with Frank Reich at the helm.

This is something that could interest Everett, too. He’d likely get a substantial role within Reich and Brown’s scheme, with the Panthers boasting the right coaching staff to make this an attractive destination for veterans when the free-agent madness commences.

Much will depend on what the Chargers plan to do with Everett. But it’s hard to look at his production last season and not think he’d be a huge upgrade on anything Carolina has right now.
