Which Carolina Panthers players are currently outperforming their current pay grade heading into the 2023 off-season?

The Carolina Panthers have increased expectations on their shoulders after an outstanding start to the offseason. Frank Reich’s appointment and his ability to put together an all-star coaching staff with David Tepper’s bottomless pit of money are the primary reasons for this, but it will count for nothing if the team cannot make the right personnel moves on the playing side before the new campaign.

Carolina has an outstanding spine – especially on defense – to build around. General manager Scott Fitterer having the final say on roster moves for the first time is another positive aspect that leaves reasons for optimism.

The Panthers have some salary-cap concerns to overcome in pursuit of making the necessary improvements. However, maneuvering money around to their advantage is something to consider and is increasingly commonplace around the league.

Looking at the current state of affairs, here are four Panthers players currently being underpaid heading into 2023.

Brady Christensen – Carolina Panthers OL

  • 2023 cap hit – $1.4 million

Brady Christensen’s emergence into a starting interior offensive lineman was a major asset for the Carolina Panthers in 2022. Something that should have occurred much sooner if it wasn’t for Matt Rhule’s stubborn approach to the player’s development.

Christensen is on the road to recovery after suffering a serious injury in their season finale. But if he is ready to rock by Week 1, then his $1.4 million cap hit for an ever-growing presence represents a huge bargain for the Panthers.
