The Carolina Panthers hosted their first Sunday Night Football game in 11 years against the Detroit Lions in Week 4. For quarterback Bryce Young, it was a chance to show the entire NFL just how far he's come.

A stigma still surrounds Young, but it is changing. He is benefiting from a more aggressive offense with Brad Idzik calling plays, and the No. 1 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft came into the game leading the league in passing yards.

Given how vulnerable the Lions' secondary is, this looked like another good opportunity for Young to put up good numbers. However, he would have to do it without some key weapons in the passing game and left guard Damien Lewis, Carolina's most dependable offensive lineman, before he suffered an elbow injury.

The Panthers' fortunes were teetering at 1-2, but they'll always have a chance if Young keeps up this level of play. And the bigger the stage, the better he seems to perform.

As it turned out, Young turned on the style for another sensational performance as the Panthers went into their bye week on a real high.

With that in mind, here are five major observations from Young's prime-time performance against the Lions at Bank of America Stadium.

Bryce Young's field vision

Things have slowed down considerably for Bryce Young. There were signs of this last season, and his comfort level is right where it needs to be now. This stems from his improved field vision, a notable highlight throughout Week 4.

Young doesn't panic. He trusts his reads, knows when to get the football out, and has learned when it's the best time to fight another day. His composure under center settles everyone down, which was needed against a Detroit Lions pass rush featuring stud defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.

The Panthers have complete faith in Young. There is a calmness and ruthless conviction to his game that is hard not to love, and despite being on the smaller side for a quarterback, it doesn't affect his ability to control his surroundings.

That makes Young dangerous, especially since he can make things happen on the move. And even though he didn't make every throw, the command with which he went about his business was encouraging.

Panthers fans have been seeing this from Young since he returned to the lineup after being benched in 2024. But this time, the consistency, with added experience, is taking a notable step forward.
