The Carolina Panthers are facing early turmoil this season. Head coach Dave Canales' squad hasn't taken advantage of a relatively favorable schedule to start the campaign, and now they're dealing with more injuries that only add to the misery.
Cornerback Jaycee Horn might not be seen again this season after tearing his quad. Interior offensive lineman Damien Lewis will miss weeks with an elbow injury, and several others are also nursing problems. Not exactly the start Carolina had in mind, but Canales has to rally his troops.
This is the NFL. Nobody cares about your injuries, and results are all that matter. The Panthers are falling short in that regard, but they still have a long way to go and plenty of football left before their fate is decided.

Carolina Panthers vs. Lions - Week 4
The Panthers are depleted heading into their Sunday Night Football showdown with the Detroit Lions. A massive effort will be required, and Canales' squad cannot afford to head into their bye week at 1-3.
Detroit is 2-1 after a hard-fought victory over the New York Jets. They have a high-octane offense that can put up points quickly, but their secondary is vulnerable. With key men set to miss the contest, the Panthers may have to turn this into a shootout.
- Prediction: Loss (1-3)
Bank of America Stadium will be electric under the national spotlight. But the Lions might have too much firepower for the Panthers to handle.
Carolina Panthers at Eagles - Week 6
The Panthers will have an extended rest period in Week 5 to heal and take stock. An early bye isn't ideal, but Canales won't complain after how things have unfolded over the opening few weeks.
Carolina returns to action at Lincoln Financial Field, one of the most intimidating atmospheres anywhere in the league. The Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of talent, but something isn't clicking right now, and their heavy loss to the Case Keenum-led Chicago Bears is another example.
- Prediction: Win (2-3)
The extra preparation time, getting some key men healthier, and refocusing is just what the Panthers need. If they can get the crowd nervous early, they might pull off an upset.
Carolina Panthers vs. Buccaneers - Week 7
If the Panthers want to successfully defend their NFC South championship, they have to win their divisional matchups. They got off to a good start by trouncing the Atlanta Falcons, and Canales will be hoping for the same in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Carolina ended Tampa Bay's stranglehold on the division crown last season, and pressure is already building on the Buccaneers after three straight defeats. Whether they'll turn the tide by this point is anyone's guess, but it's not looking especially promising.

The Panthers should fancy their chances here. Losing Horn will hurt against the wide receiver duo of Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin, but they can capitalize on the cracks clearly forming in their rivals.
Carolina Panthers at Packers - Week 8
The Green Bay Packers have been one of the league's biggest letdowns through three weeks of the season. They are propping up the NFC North and risk losing real ground if things don't improve. But for the Panthers, there is a good chance they will have All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons to deal with by this point.
Parsons is aiming to return around Week 6. Even if it is a little later, he should be on the field in Week 8. That poses a problem for Carolina's offensive line, which hasn't exactly been firing on all cylinders and will now be without Lewis until further notice.
- Prediction: Loss (3-4)
Couple this with a short week for Thursday Night Football, and it might be too much for Carolina to overcome. Still, being 3-4 would mean the Panthers are treading water, if nothing else.
