Following last week, Newton attempted to calm those critical of his most recent performance. “Things on the offensive side have to be better. I am proclaiming that it will. Moving forward, there is no need to panic.” On Sunday, he delivered.

The Panthers signal caller repeatedly took advantage of a Patriots defense failing to cover in the secondary. His three touchdown passes were, by far, the most this season in addition to his rushing score.

Newton also gathered his offense and executed a 10-play, 46 yard drive in the final three minutes to set up a Graham Gano 48-yard field goal for the win. Carolina improved to 2-0 under Newton against Tom Brady and the Patriots with wins both at home and on the road.
