Veteran, captain Ryan Kalil has been the anchor of a group constantly in flux since training camp. This group has endured a plethora of injuries through the preseason that have unfortunately carried over into regular season play.
Fortunately, Panthers general manager Marty Hurney and coach Ron Rivera have pulled all of the right strings creating a group that has been incredibly consistent. Relying on a second-year lineman in addition to making a free agent acquisition, the Panthers continue to receiver solid production from those responsible for protecting Newton and creating run lanes.
Kalil suffered a shoulder injury late in the game versus New York and while his long-term status isn’t known, it is just par for the course of 2018. Expect another shift in the personnel should Kalil miss any significant amount of time moving forward.
A solid performance through this season’s first four games but one that could also be improved upon. Carolina continues regular season play next week on the road in Washington.
