Carolina Panthers offense performance through the first quarter of 2018
Receviers: 78, C+
B- vs. Cowboys, C- at Falcons, C vs. Bengals, B+ vs. Giants
A lot of focus has been on the injuries surrounding the offensive line but missing Curtis Samuel, Damiere Byrd and Greg Olsen for some time has also played into the ability of the wide receivers and tight ends to impact games.
Devin Funchess is serving as the No. 1 receiver for the first time in his career and while he has shown flashes of positive play but a lack of consistency has limited his effectiveness. An improvement from those around him may also help to take much of the focus off Funchess and instead require defenses to respect the talents of others on the field.
Rookie D.J. Moore should see an uptick in his snap count moving forward and tight end Ian Thomas has performed admirably in Olsen’s absence. Both appear to be trending in the right direction and are capable of cementing themselves into long-time players for the Panthers.
