Limit the Running Back

Washington running backs Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson both sustained injuries against the Saints but each could return on Sunday. Peterson has been playing well in Washington, with 378 total yards and three touchdowns out of the backfield.

Thompson has served as a change of pace who can also contribute in the passing game. Both combine to create significant problems for opponents, when healthy, and the Panthers run defense has been suspect at times this season.

Carolina has given up at least one touchdown to every running back they’ve faced this season minus Tevin Coleman of the Atlanta Falcons. He didn’t find the end zone but did accumulate 125 total yards as two backs have topped the century mark versus the Panthers in just four games.
