The Carolina Panthers made some eye-catching moves in free agency, but which players did they miss out on which could have made an impact.

The free agency period was an extremely busy one for the Carolina Panthers. Trades were made, high-profile players were brought in and a number of established faces departed for pastures new.

Head coach Matt Rhule endured something of a baptism of fire during his first offseason thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. He spent considerable resources strengthening the offensive side of the ball, primarily with the acquisition of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater from the New Orleans Saints.

Left tackle Russell Okung also came in as part of a deal that sent guard Trai Turner to the Los Angeles Chargers. Another notable signing was wide receiver Robby Anderson, who came from the New York Jets and will add another piece to a stacked wide receiver group.

Although the Panthers are expected to address the defensive side of the ball in the 2020 NFL Draft. Their veteran leadership is slim and a couple of experienced faces to go alongside free-agent signing Stephen Weatherly would have done their chances of contending in the NFC South no harm at all.

Their salary cap constraints made it difficult to bring in any big-money players once they had committed so much to Bridgewater. Here are five players that would have made a tremendous impact with the Panthers had they gone in this particular direction.
