6 quarterbacks the Panthers could draft in 2020

Oklahoma prospect Jalen Hurts is one of the most polarizing talented entering the NFL this year. The transfer from Alabama enjoyed a phenomenal season with the Sooners that saw him finish second behind projected No.1 pick Joe Burrow in the Heisman Trophy voting.
He benefitted significantly from Lincoln Riley’s offensive scheme and was a game-changing threat with the ball in his hands. This was reflected in some outstanding passing and running stats.
While his technique does need a real tune-up if he is going to succeed at the next level, there is plenty to like about Hurts. Having him sit behind Teddy Bridgewater and used in specialist packages could be a massive boost to the Carolina Panthers’ offense.
His accuracy and ability to go through progressions need work if he is going to make it as a potential starter in the NFL. What he lacks in these areas, Hurts more than makes up for in running and making plays out of nothing.
The player’s lack of size for a quarterback is nothing to concern given the changing landscape thanks to the likes of Russell Wilson and Drew Brees. He is a proven winner who made the most of his senior year in college after losing his starting job at the Crimson Tide to projected top-five pick Tua Tagovailoa.
There is no chance of Hurts starting right away. However, his potential arrival in Carolina has a huge upside and he would be an instant upgrade over current backup Will Grier.
