Would Thaddeus Moss be a good fit with the Carolina Panthers?
By Dean Jones
What would Moss bring to the Panthers?
Thaddeus Moss might still be a work in progress. But there is plenty to suggest he is going to be a real asset to have going forward.
The player is a very effective blocker and has heavy hands at the point of attack. He has a dense enough frame to move incoming defenders and create gaps for backs to work in.
He is not the most dynamic route runner and doesn’t have the speed to take the top of a defense. But with a little work, he can be someone more than capable of doing significant damage on intermediate routes to move the chains.
This is something the Carolina Panthers have relied on heavily in recent years with Greg Olsen. They will be hoping Ian Thomas can fill the void in the short term., But getting someone with the reliable hands that Moss possesses would do them no harm at all.
What Moss lacks in explosiveness, he more than makes up for with football nous and power. It is evident from watching his tape that the apple does not fall far from the tree when it comes to his hand and body positioning when a ball is thrown his way.
Moss is also a significant red zone threat and has no trouble getting up to the highest point or collecting the ball under pressure. His strength to get away from press coverage is another notable feature of his play in this area of the field.
