Carolina Panthers: Day two pick predictions (rounds 2 and 3)
By Dean Jones
The emergence of Kyle Dugger from small school prospect to potential NFL star is nothing short of phenomenal. He has had arguably the best evaluation process of anyone coming into the league in 2020.
The Carolina Panthers could use someone with the energy and aggressiveness that Dugger brings to the table. The prospect is equally adept at making an impression in the running game or on passing situations.
Dugger has no problem coming to the second level to cover slot receivers or tight ends in specialist packages. This versatility is normally a hot commodity within the mid-rounds as teams aim to look for players that can fill multiple needs if required.
He has generated so much buzz it is hard to envisage a situation where he is not taken on day two. This also represents an area of need for the Panthers, who released veteran Eric Reid this offseason. Tre Boston did receive a contract extension worth $8 million guaranteed over three years this offseason. They also agreed to terms with Juston Burris to prize him away from the Cleveland Browns.
Regardless of these pick-ups, if someone with the ceiling Dugger possesses falls into their lap in the third round then it would be foolish not to at least consider the scenario. There will not be a more popular draft pick on day two than when the prospect’s name is called and he is deserving of all the money and accolades coming his way.
