While there is little disputing the sort of talent that Curtis Samuel brings to the table. Given the number of weapons now needing touches on offense, it might difficult for the wide receiver to make any noticeable gains on what he achieved last term.

The Carolina Panthers invested heavily on their offense during free agency with the acquisition of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wideout Robby Anderson. The likes of Seth Roberts and Pharoh Cooper also have a shot at earning some touches providing they impress during training camp.

Ian Thomas is also expected to make a leap forward in 2020 in the absence of Greg Olsen. So the Panthers passing attack appears crowded and could ensure Samuel is frustrated in his attempts to become a more prominent offensive option.

There was even some talk of trading the player during the NFL Draft. The Panthers received some calls for Samuel but eventually decided that keeping the player around on the final year of his deal was a chance worth taking.

How the former second-round pick will be utilized in offensive coordinator Joe Brady’s scheme remains to be seen. Samuel has proven to be a valuable option across the middle and in specialist packages running the ball.

That sort of versatility is the cornerstone behind every successful team. So it would be foolish of the Panthers not to take advantage of the player’s skill set while he is still a part of the franchise.

If Samuel is left frustrated with the lack of opportunities to showcase his talent, then a move away in 2021 is almost guaranteed.
