Panthers schedule: Top 3 opposing defenses in 2020

Panthers schedule: Defense No. 1 – Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings might have parted ways with some key veterans this offseason. But their defense remains formidable and will represent a significant test for the Carolina Panthers in 2020.
Everson Griffen, Xavier Rhodes, Mackensie Alexander, and Trae Waynes were all moved on. And the Vikings also lost defensive end Stephen Weatherly when he signed a two-year deal worth $12 million to join the Panthers.
That being said, Mike Zimmer still has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal next season. The Pro Bowl duo of Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris is arguably the best tandem in the NFL. And upfront they are led by prolific pass-rusher Danielle Hunter.
Their second level boasts a first-team All-Pro in middle linebacker Eric Kendricks. And big things are also expected of former first-round cornerback Mike Hughes with more time on the field.
Minnesota further helped their cause with a series of defensive draft picks which were headlined by cornerback Jeff Gladney. Another expected to make an early contribution is Cameron Dantzler, who could end up being a good value pick.
Panthers’ new quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will know exactly what to expect from a Zimmer defense. They play physical and finish off plays extremely well. While their fortunes were ultimately undone by their failure to cover sufficiently on the outside. This is something that should show a marked improvement next time around.
