Former Saints on the Carolina Panthers: Defense (Woodrow Hamilton, Eli Apple, T.J. Green, Natrell Jamerson)

There are also plenty of former New Orleans Saints players looking to earn prominent positions on defense with the Carolina Panthers. The most likely of these to see valuable minutes is Eli Apple, who has the potential to be a shrewd acquisition by the franchise if he can finally make the most of his impressive skill set.

Apple went through some difficulties last season. And he has yet to reach the sort of expectations that come with being selected No. 10 overall. But providing the corner fits into his new surrounding then he will be given the chance to make an impact.

Defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton should also make the 53-man roster despite the Panthers drafting Derrick Brown No. 7 overall and Bravvion Roy in the sixth round. The imposing figure spent 2017 and 2018 as a member of the Saints’ practice squad before he was eventually snapped up by Carolina’s decision-makers.

T.J. Green was given a chance by the Saints at the back end of last season. But unfortunately for the player, he did not make the most of it and was subsequently waived this offseason. The Panthers wasted no time in picking him up. And a change of scenery could see the safety improve and possibly earn a roster position during camp.

Another looking to make an impression at the same position is Natrell Jamerson. He was drafted by the Saints in 2018 but never got on the field. This was down in no small part to his lack of ability to move from safety to cornerback. So it remains to be seen what his position of preference will be in Carolina.
