Carolina Panthers: 4 dream offseason trade targets in 2020

Carolina Panthers trade target: Jarrad Davis – LB (Detroit Lions)
The Carolina Panthers need some more help at the inside linebacker spot. Legendary figure Luke Kuechly announced his retirement this offseason. And the franchise will be counting on free agent signing Tahir Whitehead to deliver the goods.
They could do with strengthening this area of the field going into 2020. And Jarrad Davis is an intriguing option that probably wouldn’t cost a tremendous amount.
The player’s days with the Detroit Lions could be numbered after they declined his fifth-year option. The former first-round pick faces stern competition for a starting spot in 2020 after the team signed veteran Pro Bowler Jamie Collins Sr. And second-round pick in 2019 Jahlani Tavai is also expected to make strides in his sophomore campaign.
It is unlikely that Davis would come with any great compensation. A mid-round draft pick in 2021 might be enough to tempt the Lions into dealing a player who might not be with the roster next spring.
Although Davis regressed slightly last season. He does possess an intriguing skill set and has the sort of athleticism that the Panthers have sought often during Matt Rhule’s first few months at the helm.
Davis would also be a cheap option that is also welcome given Carolina’s current salary cap predicament. He is set to make a $1.96 million base salary in 2020. And if the linebacker fails to live up to expectations, he can be moved on quickly.
