Carolina Panthers trade target: Max Garcia – (OG)

The Carolina Panthers have made some bold decisions regarding their offensive line in recent months. This has left this particular area of the field with plenty of questions about chemistry going into 2020.

They parted ways with perennial Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner via trade that brought veteran left tackle Russell Okung to Carolina. Although the likes of John Miller and Michael Schofield could fill the void in the short-term. A longer-term solution will be needed.

One possible trade option from the Arizona Cardinals is offensive guard Max Garcia. The player missed 2019 with a serious knee injury. But he is expected to be back at full health and represents an intriguing option for the Panthers.

Garcia played at a relatively high level in 2018 when he was called upon. The lineman gave up just one sack following his free-agent move from the Denver Broncos. But much will depend on just how well the former fourth-round pick comes back from a real setback in his progression.

It isn’t likely that Garcia would come at any great cost if the Panthers want to go in this particular direction. This would also take some of the pressure off the player in terms of contributing right away. As there is just no telling how long he is going to need in order to get back to the level of old.

Garcia is still only 28-years-old, so the ability to recover quickly should still be there. He recently signed a one-year extension, but he faces a real fight to become part of the rotation.
