One team that might be seen as a possible destination for Cam Newton is the Arizona Cardinals. They do have a cemented No. 1 option in Kyler Murray. But their lack of depth behind him is something of a concern.

The 2019 first overall pick enjoyed some success in his rookie year. But bigger things are expected now with a better running game and some formidable-looking weapons on passing downs.

One notable addition is All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who the Cardinals somehow managed to prise away from the Houston Texans via trade for minimal compensation compared to his talent. This gives Arizona a true No. 1 presence on the outside that will not only provide elite production. But will also open up other areas of the field to further aid their cause.

Newton would provide Murray with a strong role model to lean on during a critical sophomore campaign for the player. They both came into the league as the first player picked. And in the event the signal-caller gets hurt, their playbook won’t have to be altered whatsoever given their similar impact to make plays on the move.

Whether this sort of move has the potential to be a disruptive influence for Murray is up for debate. Adding Newton would put even more pressure on his shoulders to perform. And this could be detrimental to his progression.
