What are some potential landing spots for veteran kicker Graham Gano following his release by the Carolina Panthers?

The Carolina Panthers wasted little time in moving on from Graham Gano. The veteran kicker was released just a day removed from passing his physical at a time when many believed he would get at least a shot at earning back a starting job he only lost through injury.

Gano was a reliable kicker for the Carolina Panthers before a serious injury meant he had to sit out the entire 2019 season. The NFL waits for no man. And next man up Joey Slye made the most out of his opportunity in the player’s absence.

This is all part of the ruthless business of the NFL. One player’s loss brings a chance for another. And new head coach Matt Rhule has now placed a significant amount of faith in Slye to get the job done during this period of transition.

After working so hard to get back to full health, Gano might feel slighted by this move by the Panthers. He was a consistent performer for them over the years. But this unprecedented time has dictated there is no room for sentiment when it comes to building a roster in 2020.

Teams are already under pressure to trim their playing staff to 80 by August 16. And this has unfortunately left Gano on the outside looking in. He is sure to command plenty of interest on the free-agent market, with the kicker boasting a career field goal percentage of 82.1 percent.

Here are three teams that might be potential landing spots for Gano following his release by the Panthers this week.
