Give the youth some experience

The Carolina Panthers won’t be pulling up any trees this season, of that there is little doubt. Moving Kawann Short on to pastures new with a possible trade would allow younger members of the roster to gain some vital in-game experience that will stand them in good stead going forward.

Putting even more responsibility on Derrick Brown‘s shoulders might not be ideal, but this is something that the No. 7 overall pick needs before Short eventually moves on next year. The former Auburn standout has enjoyed mixed success over his first three games and although there is obviously more to come from the player, it has left some questioning whether his high ceiling can ever be reached.

Trading Short before the deadline would thrust players like Zach Kerr and Bravvion Roy into the spotlight. Both could do with more time on the field and this bears more significance to the sixth-round pick given his early-season struggles in a rotational role.

It might not be the direction Panthers’ fans wanted the team to go in, but this is where we are at. We all knew this youth movement in Carolina would be a rollercoaster of emotions, and this has proved to be the case over the first three weeks of the campaign.
