It’s no secret that the Carolina Panthers struggled to fill the gaping void left by Luke Kuechly last season. The future Pro Football Hall of Famer was still making his presence behind the scenes in a pro scout role following retirement, but not having him organizing and making plays on defense is something that was sorely missed. Free-agent Tahir Whitehead will be gone. Of that, there is little doubt. Jermaine Carter did prove capable of being a starter, but his fractious relationship with Matt Rhule earlier in the campaign left him on the outside looking in until Carolina was left with no option other than to remove Whitehead from the lineup thanks to his dismal production. There is also the prospect of linebacking dup Christian Miller and Jordan Mack returning to the fold after opting-out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 health concerns. But examining the market for a potential diamond in the brought with a ton of upside is another possibility worth considering. Ezekiel Turner falls into this category after catching the eye on a limited basis with the Arizona Cardinals. He has the versatility to play either at the second level or as a safety, which Rhule loves in potential recruits. https://catcrave.com/2021/03/08/4-carolina-panthers-players-extended-extra-cap-space/ The undrafted player has been a key contributor on special teams over his three years with the Arizona Cardinals. So there might be even more to come with an increased sense of responsibility elsewhere.
