Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT

Although the Carolina Panthers got better from a pass-rushing perspective this offseason, the departures of Kawann Short and Zach Kerr with one year remaining on their respective deals leaves the team desperately thin of options alongside Derrick Brown at defensive tackle. This is something that should be rectified either in free agency or the NFL Draft, but it might also see more in the way of reps coming Bravvion Roy’s way in 2021.

The sixth-round pick performed well above expectations after following Matt Rhule from Baylor. He managed to generate pressure in a rotational role and made some eye-catching plays along the way, so providing the necessary adjustments are made this offseason, there is plenty of reasons to be encouraged regarding his chances moving forward.

Much will depend on what other reinforcements are brought in as potential fits alongside Brown. Only time will tell as to whether Morgan Fox will be anything more than a three-technique on the interior, so a more stereotypical force against the run is going to benefit them enormously in the coming weeks.

Roy will play his part and might even see more in the way of playing time with further gains this offseason. His conditioning needs to improve to make the most out of his skills, but it’s more about fine-tuning rather than any major alternations.
