Jaycee Horn was always the guy

It didn’t take long to find out that Jaycee Horn was always going to be priority No. 1 for the Carolina Panthers. Had Penei Sewell been around, it might have been different, but the South Carolina cornerback was at the forefront of their minds and this was reflected in Panthers Confidential.

The plan was clear. Go with Horn or accept a huge offer from elsewhere to move down.

This didn’t materialize, with the Minnesota Vikings not offering next year’s first-round selection to move up, leaving Carolina happy they secured their top-rated corner and someone who got the green light from all front office personnel and coaching staff.

Horn knew he was on the Panthers’ radar. Even though he was sitting a little nervously as time wore on.

There is little doubt that Horn is going to get plenty of early responsibility given Carolina’s need for improved production within their cornerback room. Judging by his performances against some top talent in college, he could hit the ground running and the son of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Joe Horn has made a lasting impression during the offseason so far.

The Panthers would have been happy with either Sewell or Horn, so getting one of their first choices was the ideal scenario.
