Dallas Cowboys

Another team that could be a viable option for Kawann Short is the Dallas Cowboys. Their defense was nothing short of abysmal in 2020 and although they’ve brought in some big-time reinforcements, the organization is still lacking a veteran presence at defensive tackle that can assist them in run support.

The margin for error is small for the Cowboys next season.

Dallas has flattered to deceive for the best part of two decades. Although team owner Jerry Jones is a master manipulator when it comes to keeping the organization in the national media spotlight, their lack of success on the field is a damning indictment of the way things have transpired across the franchise of late.

Considering the amount of talent on defense, it was bizarre to see them all underperforming. The introduction of Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator should help matters and he knows plenty about Short from his time as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

There is nothing to suggest Short wouldn’t be a considerable upgrade on anything Dallas has at the position, although they have high hopes for second-year-pro Neville Gallimore in 2021.

His presence on the interior would also free up additional space for the likes of DeMarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory, and rookie linebacker Micah Parsons to generate pressure, which is another potential impact that shouldn’t be overlooked.

At least from the outside looking in, this appears a win-win for all parties involved.
