5 shocking cuts the Carolina Panthers could make this offseason

Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT
Considering Bravvion Roy was a sixth-round pick in 2020, he managed to apply himself well during his time on the field. He recorded one sack, 29 tackles, two tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and eight pressures from 40 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, which represented some solid production from the former Baylor man.
The Carolina Panthers got themselves some additional reinforcements on their defensive line interior this offseason in pursuit of further progress. DaQuan Jones and three-technique Morgan Fox joined in free agency, with Daviyon Nixon and Phil Hoskins arriving via the 2021 NFL Draft.
This was something Roy undoubtedly expected, especially as Carolina released Kawann Short and Zach Kerr ahead of time as well as losing Efe Obada to the Buffalo Bills.
Much will obviously depend on how much Roy develops his own game this offseason. Conditioning proved to be an issue last time around and missed tackles were also problematic against the run during his first experience as a pro.
If the necessary adjustments aren’t made and Roy loses depth chart position to those acquired this spring, he might find himself on the chopping block.
Releasing Roy would be a surprise to many considering his efforts last season. But what comes next will ultimately come down to the player.
