Bill Belichick isn’t in the habit of letting starting-caliber players leave the New England Patriots.

But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

Isaiah Wynn still has his best football ahead of him, even if injuries hampered his progress significantly in 2020. He certainly looks like the franchise left tackle New England expected when they acquired him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, so much will depend on whether he can put these problems behind him when competitive action begins.

This would be a tremendous addition to the Carolina Panthers. Albeit unlikely.

Wynn represents a substantial upgrade on anything Carolina has at their disposal heading into the new season. Offering a king’s ransom for the lineman is something the Patriots would no doubt consider before turning it down.

That being said, there is no harm in trying.

Wynn is going to need a bumper pay rise sooner rather than later. And the Patriots might have to go into a full rebuilding move if their aggressive 2021 offseason doesn’t bring about a big turnaround in fortunes.

Someone like Wynn would provide them with a stable presence to man the blindside for years to come. But whether the Patriots would even entertain the thought of moving the former Georgia star is highly debatable.
