Things haven’t gone according to plan for Andre Dillard with the Philadelphia Eagles during his brief career so far. The lineman went through some early struggles as a rookie before missing the entire 2020 campaign due to injury, so there is a lot on the line for the former first-round pick in the coming months.

Dillard came into the NFL with a big reputation out of Washington State. But he’s managed just 337 snaps so far according to Pro Football Focus, giving up four sacks and conceding one penalty on his way to a modest 59.7 grade.

The edge protector is going to get another shot at becoming a starting left tackle for the Eagles in 2021. Whether he can make the most of it is another matter entirely.

One thing is for sure, it won’t take long to figure out whether Dillard has what it takes.

Any regression from the player might see Philadelphia go in a different direction. So the Carolina Panthers should be monitoring the situation closely.

Dillard has all the athletic traits Carolina sought heavily during their recruitment process this offseason. The Philly fans are not known for being the most lenient when it comes to players who aren’t pulling their weight, so there is a monumental challenge awaiting him next season.

From the Panthers’ standpoint, Dillard appears to be a perfect scheme fit that should definitely be on their radar.
