4 Carolina Panthers players who must rebound in 2022

Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR
Signing a two-year contract extension before the 2021 season was the financial security Robby Anderson had been looking for. The wide receiver benefitted enormously from reuniting with his former college coach Matt Rhule and looked set for bigger and better things now another ex-New York Jet was also on board after the Carolina Panthers traded for Sam Darnold.
Nothing ever goes quite according to plan. But for Anderson to suffer such a steep drop-off in production was deeply concerning.
The wide receiver didn’t help himself with some clear individual errors early on. Darnold’s inability to make correct decisions is another element of Anderson’s poor output that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Anderson was a frustrated figure for most of the campaign, bringing in 53 receptions from 110 targets for 519 receiving yards and five touchdowns. And there are now some significant doubts as to whether the player will even be in Carolina next season.
According to Greg Bedard from the Boston Sports Journal, the New England Patriots discussed a potential trade for Anderson during the NFL Scouting Combine, which was deemed as exploratory by Joe Person of The Athletic, and nothing concrete emerged.
If a deal to trade Anderson cannot be reached, then he has to perform a lot better next season. Otherwise, it could be his last one in Carolina.
