Rashard Higgins brings swagger to the Carolina Panthers
Having a nickname such as “Hollywood” comes with its own set of pressure. Rashard Higgins acquired this during his time at Colorado State in college, where he was an absolute sensation with 238 receptions for 3,648 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns en route to becoming a fifth-round pick in 2015.
Things haven’t been as easy at the next level, obviously. Higgins has come in for criticism at times and might not have lived up to his potential as yet, even if there have been flashes of what the wideout could potentially do in a more prominent role.
Higgins brings a level of swagger to the Carolina Panthers that was lacking at times last season. Robby Anderson also has some mystique due to his outgoing personality, but he looked like a lost figure throughout the 2021 campaign and was often frustrated with the distribution under center from Sam Darnold that boiled over on one or two occasions.
Wide receivers are known for being more diva-like than most. Higgins obviously didn’t take too kindly to being an afterthought in the Cleveland Browns offense after a career-year in 2020 and he now gets the chance to prove them wrong by making his presence felt in Carolina.
This is an exciting signing for the Panthers. But Higgins will need to adjust quickly to carve out an important role for himself in Ben McAdoo’s system.
